Gwendolyn “Gwen” Frye has devoted more than 30 years to the nursing profession, bringing both expertise and heart to her role as Director of Nursing at College Street Health Care Center. She began her career after graduating from Lamar State College Port Arthur in 1993 with her LVN, later earning her Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 2000. Since becoming a licensed nurse in 1994, Gwen has built a diverse background in medical-surgical care, home health, cardiac rehabilitation, agency nursing, and as a medical office manager.
While her experience is broad, Gwen’s true passion lies in long-term care. For the past 18 years, she has worked closely with residents and families in this field, serving as a Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing for the last 13 years. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Infection Control Preventionist, dedicated to ensuring quality care and safe practices. Gwen believes that every resident deserves compassion, dignity, and respect—just as she would want for her own family.
Outside of her professional life, Gwen enjoys reading, watching classic movies, and discovering treasures while thrifting at estate sales. She is happily married, the proud mother of three adult children, and a proud grandmother of ten.
